Twitter Content Guidelines
Written by Cara Samson, Leon Fraser, Olivia Adams, and Lahn Lorde

When posting content on Twitter, you are expected to only post content that is appropriate for the server. Discussing certain topics should be avoided from being posted on Twitter in game.

Here are some examples of things to avoid:

  • Tragic or heated IRL topics
  • Political messages that use Real Life Political Parties (Republican, Democratic, Conservative, Liberal, etc)
  • Lewd / Sexually Explicit commentary and imagery
  • Any topics that go against any NDRP server rules

Offensive Jokes:
Making jokes among friends that are willing participants in a conversation, is vastly different than posting things on a public platform visible to everyone. Jokes shared on Twitter should not be oversexualized, hurtful to a specific demographic (Sexual Orientation, Gender and Gender Neutral, race, etc), or pushing real world political views. If you wish to post something and are unsure if the content you are going to post on Twitter is acceptable; Open a support ticket and request an Admin’s assistance.

Twitter Handles:

Twitter handles have more freedom than legal names, but should still be appropriate for the server. Examples of content that Twitter handles should not contain:

  • Sexually Explicit Material
  • Slurs or Racist Context
  • Discriminatory Language
  • Hateful context or language towards groups of a specific demographic (See previous paragraph)
Please note that these are only a few examples of what would make a handle not appropriate and it is up to Admin discretion on if something is or isn't acceptable, and may or may not result in warning points or a ban. It is considered breaking server rules, and will be treated as such.

Screenshots Posted on Twitter:

Posting screenshots from the server on Twitter is completely allowed and welcomed, due to us here on NewDay wanting the server and its content to feel real. But it has come to our attention throughout the time of NewDay that some people are less comfortable with poses used in photoshoots in game then others.

This simple guide will look into the kinds of poses we expect to be used, especially while in lingerie or swimwear.

What is acceptable:

Although we don’t have an exact ruling on what can and can’t be used, it's important to understand and take into consideration that everyone that plays here on NewDay has experienced different upbringings and surroundings that have changed their opinion on the showing of large amounts of skin.

These image examples are by no means the only ones that you can use but they do show a way to show off your favorite beach image while keeping it friendly to all viewers that may not be comfortable in other areas.

It is also important to note how often these images are being posted and that it would be good to be mindful about how often you are posting something that shows lots of skin and what purpose it is being posted for.

What is not acceptable:

Twitter can be an overwhelming place for people that aren’t comfortable with sexuality or have religious backgrounds. While we have stood in and directly handled situations we feel sometimes may have crossed the line over the months, we have compiled some examples of poses we feel are not entirely appropriate to be sharing over Twitter.

This by no means is now a restriction on all the amazing businesses that work as photography businesses on the server. They will however need to take caution to ensure the proper content is being posted. Overly sexualizing images and #tags lead to more discomfort than enjoyment.

Please show consideration for all our player base. If you are looking to take pictures that may make a demographic of the server feel uncomfortable, it may be best to keep those images away from Twitter.

Clarification of images displaying a female ped wearing no top:
We do not condone the use of the no top option being used in images, with the intent to use it on Twitter. This option is a base game arms option so that females are able to wear crop tops and bikini tops, it is not intended to be used alone, as shown by the blue plastic circles covering most of the breast area.

Regardless of if the character is facing the camera, facing away from the camera, has something covering the plastic circles like hair or a logo. All characters using the female body type must wear an appropriate top piece in pictures posted on Twitter.

NewDay is heavily moderated to try and keep all our player base comfortable while role-playing on the server, it is hard to please everyone in this scenario so when taking images in the attire mentioned, please consider if everyone will be comfortable viewing your image. While the block button is available in Twitter, it is also good to consider that people will have viewed the image before they are able to communicate to themselves that they are uncomfortable.

Gif / Video / tik toks :

The use of gifs and videos is perfectly okay on NewDay Twitter, and can often be used successfully for advertising and as a fun way to communicate. While we’ve seen some great and creative examples of this, we’ve also become aware of them being used less productively.

Examples of media appropriate to share:
In-character business advertising, sharing of in-character produced content (ie. news clips, performance videos, media taken at events etc), well-known and harmless memes, fun and playful clips, fun animal videos.

Examples of media you should not share:
Any content pertaining to real life political/current events, excessive trolling or continued use of media for the purpose of excessive trolling, loud noises/screaming only content, any content containing clips that breach our rules or guidelines.

It is your responsibility to review all content posted on Twitter to make sure it adheres to all of our rules and guidelines, before you post it.

Tik Toks, however, are a different subject. Tik Tok Videos should not be posted on twitter depicting real life people and/or places.

Execution-Style Videos:
Execution-style videos are not permitted on the Y platform (Twitter) in-game.- Due to the type of content within these types of videos they would realistically be removed by the team that works on that specific social media platform. However, there are limitations due to this being a roleplay server.

How far to take back and forth war talk on Twitter:

Twitter can be a great way to start a conversation and open a more personal connection with someone, as well as a way to twist the knife, as it were, after an altercation. Twitter should NOT be used to begin violent actions against other players. An example of this would be; Sending a tweet at someone telling them “We’re on our way to shoot you” and then shooting them as they arrive at the location. This would be considered Random Deathmatch (RDM) and is very much so a rule break.

Also note, please take very serious consideration as to what actions you take based on Tweets. Just because someone is tweeting mean things to you, doesn’t mean you should be going to their place of business and shooting everyone up. This is not only horrible pacing for Roleplay, but also low quality roleplay. Keep in mind how these actions affect those on the server and the broader community as a whole. This severely detracts from the roleplay quality that players experience and give out, and demotivates players to even engage with more hostile players. There are other ways to give hostility to players who start “twitter beef” with criminals. Criminals could arrive at the business and intimidate them into giving free food, etc. Think of ways to use your words first, before resorting to gunfire.

Consent is Key.

While posting on twitter there is no way to gain consent for this kind of content. If you are going to send “Risky” photos to someone, do so with the texting app “Whats App” on the server and make sure you have OoC Permission first. Do not send sexual or inappropriate photos without permission.

Generally speaking, avoid sending inappropriate photos on the server as a general rule of thumb. Be cautious of other people's comfort zones and how you might affect them.
