Vadim Vinchik is a former Russian police officer from town of Vladivostok. The City's Police Chief was enrolled in some government-level corruption and several officers had to take a fall to cover for illegal drug trafficking & distribution. During his service, Vadim found himself working very hard for people above him that simply didn't follow the law, and the corruption ultimately got him laid off. Vadim was a victim of corrupt system that basically threw him out of a job at a time where jobs in Russia were nonexistent.
The public system's a sham that does basically nothing for the unemployed, leaving Vadim without a job or any financial security. With no other prospects left over for him to contemplate, he was forced to start looking for less-legal way to make money. From breaking into cars, to doing small-time jobs for local gangs, Vadim made his living doing whatever he could do while avoiding being caught by the law.
The life of crime helped keep the roof over his head, but Vadim yearned for something more stable. Russian economic crisis hit everyone and his illegal profits were just barely covering his bills. A local travel agency started spamming everyone's mail and emails with promo ads for Traveling to America, listing some favorable locations along with some sketchy deals. One weekend, Vadim was relaxing over the weekend and with a mix of curiosity (and some vodka) decided to buy a plane ticket and leave the country for a little while. He submitted his documentation and hoped he won't get scammed from this deal.
Weeks later, after his documentation came through, he received a confirmation for travel. Both worried and hungry for something new in life, he got tickets for the next plane available, and headed for America.
