Thanks for checking out our Community Newsletter for May 2025 - things sure have changed since we last published one! We’ll most likely be settling into writing a newsletter bimonthly, so you’ll get updates on the server from us at a steady but sustainable pace.
As was announced earlier, Charlie and I have officially taken over as server co-owners this month. We plan to approach this as a true partnership, which will allow for more flexibility and direct assistance to our wonderful Staff, Admin, and Developer teams, in turn allowing us to make changes to keep steering the server in a positive direction. We both intend to stay active in day-to-day operations along with our Admin and Dev teams, as well as in character, too. Both of us still love playing our characters and intend to keep doing so.
Changes continue to be made behind the scenes to address the quality of roleplay in the server. Sometimes these will be rule changes or mechanical changes like the jail time cap, but we are also making the rounds with different groups and factions with serious discussions about conduct and toxicity. While you may not see immediate change in writing, we are going to be more proactive in talking with groups or factions about trends in behavior we’d like to see change for the better - whether talking with gang leaders or faction command departments.
You’ll note that Management has been reviewing suggestions more frequently - while sometimes a denial isn’t the answer people are looking for, we’re still going to be actively communicating as much as we can with the community about our reasoning and not letting suggestions we can address fall by the wayside. Some things being suggested are things that we’d love to do but have to consider our resources and manpower. We will be opening staff hiring within the next month.
We’ve had some questions regarding the ‘downed’ bodies on Yeeter rule within our new gang conflict rules. This is in specific reference to group conflict and not just any downed person on Yeeter, as the goal is to prevent low quality baiting and toxicity between groups. Outside of that, go ahead and post your friend’s embarrassing pictures post car accidents if you want to.
We are not a “content” server and we do make sure roleplay consequences for certain actions are appropriately severe. However, this is still a game and many of our players have expressed dislike of extremely high jail times. We’ve implemented a server jail time cap that balances both the need for serious, long jail sentences with being reasonable about the amount of time you as a player are stuck in jail. This was an OOC change and we want to emphasize that caps should not be discussed in character.
We’ve made advertising your NDRP stream more seamless - please see here for information. If you have problems with getting your Discord at the right settings you may open a ticket and see if we can help!
I’m sure the best news for the community coming out of the development team recently has been the new phone update. The update is scheduled to be pushed through on May 30th - so please be patient as with any new update comes new bugs to address. As stated, there will be an in-game command you will use to port over your contacts, photos, and more. Please see these two links for more information.
Mumble is currently being experimented with to see if issues that gave us trouble last time we used it are still an issue - before any major changes with our VOIP system are made, we will definitely update the community with further details. There is no ETA at this time.
Our dev team are always working on things, a lot of which are minor fixes or quality of life updates, but there is a constant stream of updates being pushed live, even if they aren’t announced. The phone has been the major project for our devs the last few months or so, but some other things currently in the works include:
- Crafting reworks with more recipes as well as the new personal crafting feature
- Home Cooking Updates, with more recipes as well as some less-than-legal recipes
- Adjust and monitor the new boosting system
- Mapping overhauls are being discussed and considered for regions throughout the state
- Clothing rotations, removals/additions for groups, and more retexturing
- Tattoo update #3 currently in progress, focusing on Head/Legs and small pieces
From Vladimir Petchenko, San Andreas Flight Authority
SAFA is continuing to work hard to promote and support the aviation community both IC and OOC! We have been making changes to the pilot licensing process to make it less bureaucratic but also more transparent, interactive, and accessible to all players. We are also working hard to encourage more outreach, events, and roleplay in general in and around the airfields (both aviation and ground based), so keep an eye out IC for some of those initiatives!
From LEO High Command, LSPD/BSCO/SASP
Our applications to join the San Andreas State Police, Los Santos Police Department, and Blaine County Sheriff's Office remain open. If you would like to try the law enforcement side of roleplay here in NewDayRP, we encourage you to apply. Please make sure you meet all of the criteria and read all of the questions carefully. If for whatever reason you need to edit your application after it has been submitted, please make a ticket in the NDRP Discord about your edit. Please do not edit the application without discussing it with us first. If you do not request the change through us first, your application will be automatically denied.
Don't want to step directly into the physical aspect of law enforcement roleplay? We have roles in our support division which include LEO Dispatcher and Department Janitors.
We appreciate everyone in the server who continues day in and day out providing quality, diverse, unique scenarios for the law enforcement community. And to all the law enforcement officers who actively go out of their way for the many different situations and engage with countless numbers of people daily.
From Rochelle Cassidy, Department of Corrections
Prison roleplay is often seen as a ‘time out’ from roleplay, but it can be a great side quest on your character’s journey too. While DOC is a small department, we do offer several roleplay opportunities for characters to get something out of prison besides logging off or afking. We’ve implemented a Community Service program that is designed to not only give you an organic, player-to-player way to reduce your time, but to generate roleplay for everyone in the prison. We are doing a hiring wave to get more coverage to make this a more consistent opportunity!
From George Thoreau, Department of Commerce and Labor
DoCL is currently hiring, and will be for the foreseeable future! If you’re passionate about server and business community health, and have a civilian character, we encourage you to apply!
On another note, we are in the process of being more proactive with activity checks for businesses and their owners, especially those that are auction-only, or with a closed or limited scope. This is so more people hopefully get a chance to run these sorts of businesses, so please bear with us as we work through this!
We wanted to thank the business community for making this all worthwhile. We love seeing you all get creative with your business ideas, the RP you folks do with them, and the passion you bring. If you have any feedback on businesses or social clubs on the server, we are always open to it, so please don’t feel afraid to bring it up! We take it seriously, and do implement what we can.
From SAFR Command, San Andreas Fire and Rescue
SAFR Applications are open until the end of May! San Andreas Fire & Rescue (SAFR) is now accepting applications for both of our main streams: Firefighter and Medical (EMT+), with a variety of specialty roles available, including Marine, Flight, HAZMAT, Rapid Response, and Critical Care. No prior medical experience (IC or OOC) is required. Head to the forums or click here to apply!
This month, SAFR also received a fleet of new fire hoses, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our Dev team. These updated hoses support both water and foam discharge, providing more effective firefighting capabilities for a wide range of fire types across the state.
We’d like to extend a big thank you to the community for supporting fire, rescue, and pre-hospital roleplay. As always, if your character(s) are ever involved in a fire, rescue, or medical call and you have questions or feel overwhelmed, feel free to reach out via /ooc.
From SAPD Command, San Andreas Parks and Wildlife
At this time, applications for Rangers, Parks Employees and Groundskeepers are closed. When we open hiring rounds, we tend to keep them small. This does mean that the process can take a little time - which is okay! We are aiming to open applications more frequently in the future.
Volunteering opportunities also exist with Parks Employees and groundskeepers. If you’re not sure that the department is for you, taking part in these can be a great way to get a feel for what we do so please feel free to reach out if you’re interested. It is key to note that other than some law enforcement responsibilities on the LEO side, our department is heavily role-play focused. If you enjoy creating your own stories then you may enjoy being part of the team!
We are continuing to offer pet adoptions in small, manageable waves. To help manage the workload and avoid overwhelming anybody, we intentionally don’t announce when rounds open. Right now, we’re roughly halfway through the current adoption wave, whilst working hard to get a new group of Rangers trained. With that in mind, we’re hoping to reopen adoptions again in the next month or two, depending on how everything progresses. Please keep in mind that the process does take time. We need to make sure that the appropriate roleplay has taken place before sending anything to the “local vets” for server placement.
We are currently in the process of working on a fully updated geocaching guide that will bring everything together in one place. We are expecting that this will have clearer text clues, improved visuals, and thus a more rewarding geocaching experience!
There are some new certification options being worked on that will expand SAPD operations across all roles. These certifications will open up fresh and creative opportunities for public engagement and we’re super excited to share more soon!
I want to remind everyone reading this that whilst all of our team love to engage with the community and dive into wildlife crime investigations, we are still a small team. We appreciate your patience and pacing as we work through our investigations.
Finally, I want to send out a massive thank you to everyone who has ever been involved with roleplaying with our department - from Charlie “Jessica” Morgan himself to our incredible team of Rangers, Parks Employees, Groundskeepers and even all of those who take time out of their day to interact with us on the daily.
