Charles is a character who has deep Irish roots. He grew up in a small town called Carrigaholt, where he learned to hunt using a rifle with his father. It was mostly just small game that he would hunt, including rabbits and fish. He never attended public school, as his mother had opted to home school instead. He had no siblings, but lived a fair life as a child.

His best friend growing up, Sean, lived a couple of houses down the road. The two of them were inseparable as children. They would often spend nights at each other's house, play pranks on local families, and hunt and fish together with the supervision of Mr. O'Connel. The two would go through their occasional fights, but would never stay mad at each other for very long.

But one day, his father was involved in a head on accident that took his life. This caused Charles to have to become the man of the house and take responsibility for his family. He started with small odd jobs, like mowing yards and working at the local market, just making enough to get by. But he realized he wanted to do more than just get by.

This is when he set his eyes on the sky. He started taking courses to learn to fly small planes. Eventually, he earned his pilots license, and flew planes like the Cessna 152. He would take short flights between towns, delivering mail and goods when possible, and occasionally transporting a passenger. But his real dream was always to fly something bigger and better than what he had access to.

A few years into his career, his mother's life was taken by illness. This caused him to fall into a depression, in which he formed a drinking problem. He eventually had a deep conversation with Sean, who encouraged him to clean his life up, and shoot for something better in life. This is when he decided to move to Los Santos to start a new life.
