From NewDay Management:
These last two months have been incredibly busy, with with a new phone system, lots of dev updates, and an unexpected shift to Mumble as our voice chat provider. For most people the rollout of Mumble has been smooth, but if you need to open a ticket for support our tech team has been working hard at compiling solutions to common problems.
Our merch store is back! You can visit it here or click the "Merch" button on the top bar of the forums. Now you can get a cool item and contribute to the server at the same time! We're holding an art contest as well to add images to our store. Check out the contest here.
Our TMC Core update very recently went through, and there's a few major changes that come with it. Cash as an item was polled from the community; The vote was close, so the posts that went into detail about why people voted one way or another were considered, and then a decision was made to remove coins based on your feedback. We take these type of votes as an way to get the communities' input about major changes. That does mean sometimes when a vote is close, we will take the individual feedback and make a decision one way or another. If the vote was overwhelmingly negative, we would not have gone forward. We understand that can be frustrating, but as managers we have a responsibility to balance community desires with the overall community direction. This update allows our developers to go forward with a number of reworks to regarding our criminal economy, so look for updates on that front.
From the Administration Team:
Everyone involved in this server is a human being behind a screen; from your fellow players to our staff and developers. If you are upset at another player, but don't feel a rule was broken or some other reportable offense happens, you can always request a mediation. These mediations are when you would like to discuss an issue in a moderated setting. These conversations can go a long way to understand other people's perspectives of scenes, and work out issues before they develop into toxicity or overly frustrating you OOCly.
Recently there has been a large uptick in people not using the /me command correctly. Remember /me are for actions that you want other characters to see. You can use this to convey emotions in a visual way; but be careful to not specify beyond that to let the players react appropriately and engage in more dialogue. If you are trying to let the other party know something OOC (like voip issues) you can use /ooc. There's a thread here that goes into more detail about using /me in server.
- /me signals 'one moment' VS /me I can't hear you
- /me looks annoyed at the man's comment VS /me thinks the man is dumb
From the Development Team:
The largest and most time critical project was completed with Mumble. While we wanted to do a community poll on Mumble preference, an unfortunate set of issues cemented the change. The dev team is currently working on bugs that came with the transfer of systems and experimenting with new things Mumble can do that Teamspeak could not.Works in progress and in planning are still rolling on. We have some new ideas for housing that should help the playerbase find a home that suits their characters. Here's some things currently being worked on:
- Customizable apartments - Luxury apartments you can furnish yourself
- New players and characters will soon receive a free voucher for a two week stay at the Von Crastenburg
- Motel/Hotel rent periods will be extended with the apartment update
- Gang/Faction tattoos are coming soon (tm). These will be provided via player run tattoo shops.
- More custom clothing being prepped for rotation; baseball tees are available for businesses and organizations already.
NDRP Government Faction Updates:
From Rajesh Gupta, Chief Justice
The Judiciary department is planning on hosting community engagement events to foster interest and connections with the legal factions. If you are interested in becoming a lawyer or getting involved in the legal field in general, feel free to contact a judge or lawyer with questions!
From Rochelle Cassidy, Department of Corrections
DOC is hiring in waves! Apply anytime and we will reach out when conducting an onboarding wave. If you have any questions about when the next hiring cycle will be, you can inquire IC.
Lifer apps are underway and we are looking to take 5 now and put some on a waitlist. See the recent staff announcement about lifer apps.
From SAFR Command, San Andreas Fire and Rescue
Fire Rescue applications are currently closed - we are planning to reopen them sometime in late September, or early October. We encourage folks interest in EMS/Fire RP to approach us IC, and get to know the department more prior to applications opening!
Fire Rescue has been taking a more proactive approach in making our roleplay more accessible to players - we have a couple of projects upcoming that will involve the community's involvement. More information will be shared soon through multiple in-character avenues. In addition, a dev update allows your medical bills to be waived if a member of SAFR/SAMS places you in bed, so don't hesitate to call us if you need help.
We’d also like to remind the community that we are here to support your roleplay, and help tell your characters story. We encourage folks to ask us questions about medRP - If you ever have questions about the RP, feel free to pop in a /ooc message!
