Ever seen playdough in the server? Confused on why your usual settings work in another server and not here?
Look no further! This is a guide explaining the GTA settings and what they do, and ranking the performance hit of each setting.
This can be used to fine-tune your settings to find a balance of performance and quality.



Why do my usual settings not work here?

NewDayRP contains a plethora of custom content and resources. Clothing, MLOs, vehicles, weapons, map additions, you name it. We may have more custom content than servers you have played on previously and all of these add up. Whilst the development team work tirelessly to keep assets as optimised as possible, the addition of all of this content can take a hit on performance.



What do each of the settings do, and how much of a performance hit does each setting give me?

Critical
MSAA - Softens edges and makes models “smoother”

Severe
Post-FX - Bloom lighting, motion blur quality (if enabled), glare, lens flare, persistent background depth of field (if enabled)
Grass Quality - ..grass.

High
Shader Quality - Lighting changes, foliage (grass) shadows, foliage density, water realism
Shadow Quality - Quality and accuracy of shadows
Reflection Quality - Self-explanatory

Medium
Reflection MSAA - Softens reflection edges

Small
Distance Scaling - Sets the distance at which textures become lower res
Ambient Occlusion - Softer and more realistic shadows
Particles Quality - Explosions, dust, smoke etc.
Tesselation Quality - Adds extra geometric detail to surfaces, objects, and characters
Texture Quality - Self-explanatory

Negligible
FXAA - Similar to MSAA, but very low on performance hit
Anisotropic Filtering - Sharpens distant textures and those viewed on an angle
Water Quality - Self-explanatory



Recommended Presets (This will not be a one-size-fits-all, use these as a baseline and tweak from there. Keep advanced settings all off in every scenario.)

Distance Scaling - 100%
Extended Texture Budget - 35% (Increase as needed at large events)

Grass Quality - Normal
Soft Shadows - Softest
