Hey Folks,

As we inch closer to the release of 2.0 it’s always a good idea to reflect on areas where we can improve on as a community. That being said, there has been an increasing amount of player reports & tickets surrounding the quality of role-play within New Day RP. As a staff team we have seen all sides of this and want to take time to address changes we’d like to see as we continue to grow, and mature as a community.

Quality of Role Play:

You should always strive to give the best roleplay possible within every situation that you find your character in. every player behind the character should always strive to ensure others they are encountering are enjoying the roleplay presented. NewDayRP was founded on creating an environment where people could find slow-burn, story driven RP in a new light. We want everyone to create stories they will remember for years to come and we understand that at times burnout happens, or that some days are better than others, but this is not a free passage to let the quality of roleplay drop due to frustrations, or boredom.

Additionally, we know that it's not uncommon to feel frustrations while roleplaying, but those feelings should never bleed into your character's actions, or choices. If you find yourself in a situation where you are unhappy, it does not mean that you should begin referencing your OOC feelings IC - Example: “That’s kind of weird bro”, “You’re washed, take the L”, “Shut up, you’ve been shot so act like it”. The examples go on and on, but none of them have a place within our community and will result in an in depth discussion with the Admin/Management team if they continue to happen.

Lastly, we want people to create unique stories to be told all throughout the state. From Paleto through Sandy, and from Sandy to Grove and back up to Vinewood. It doesn’t matter where you are within the city, or who you are in conflict with, because the story & people you are interacting with should always come first. This means that yelling a few words and then firing off shots from a moving vehicle while hurling insults, or robbing someone and immediately shooting them down should not be happening. This in no way creates a story driven environment and does not fit within the vision of NewDayRP.

Player Robberies:

Robbing cops, EMS, government officials, or other players should always have RP reasoning behind it, not just the intent to wipe a players inventory and shoot them down. When robbing a player we expect that you still provide quality RP throughout the interaction. That reason can vary from character to character, but under no circumstance should players be incapacitating the victim after 30 seconds of roleplay and then fleeing the scene with no roleplay given. This does not mean that you can not rob LEO, or other players, but it does mean that when doing so that you provide PD, ems, civilians, or other gangs the role play they deserve throughout the interaction.

LEO/EMS/Government are whitelisted positions within the community - We expect all of our players to push for a sense of realism while pursuing their RP. Sometimes it's wise to slow down and ask yourself if robbing a cop, or a doctor is the right course of action. If it is, then you need to create room for their to be a sense of dialogue for both parties during the interaction and should not be speaking over them, and giving no room for stories to unfold. While they are there to make the server function, no player is to be treated as a loot-box, or mechanic in any capacity.

We understand that it’s San Andreas and that crime is hiding behind every corner. We also understand that robberies are a part of a lot of people's characters, but we also want everyone involved in these scenarios to leave the situation feeling as if they received a level of roleplay that is fair on all sides. If you have questions on this topic, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of the Admin team via a Ticket.

Conflict/War:

Similar to robberies we understand that war is inevitable throughout the island, but as we’ve discussed before in our community meetings, there needs to be a valid reason for your groups to be going to war. When you’re engaged in conflict with each other, this does not mean you have free reign to engage in constant gunfights for weeks on end, with massive shootouts multiple times a day. We still expect all community members to provide story driven role play throughout these conflicts, as well as an end goal for each war. While we understand that IC frustrations can flare from words being said, or disrespect being shown towards your crew/gang, you should still push to role play the situation out before engaging in gunfire.

We bring this up as we have seen an increase in shots being fired throughout the state from the start of our community, and even more as we move closer to 2.0. Moving forward we want all community members to realize that although shootings are needed at times, they do not just revolve around your groups.

For instance, every shootout that occurs there are two other parties who are brought in, this leads to EMS & PD having to engage in those scenes as well. When done properly that’s fine, but when excessive it can cause extreme burnout throughout the server & community as a whole. Lastly, if you are going to be engaging in conflict and putting your characters at risk, we expect you to take the time to roleplay out your injuries. The “took it all to the vest” statements, or leaving the hospital and immediately engaging in another conflict scenario is not acceptable. Every player is given the choice to roleplay out their injuries in their own way, but they do need to be roleplayed out after each situation.

Twitter Usage:

Twitter is used for multiple reasons IC and can be a great way to communicate between friends, businesses, or to explain what you're doing. It should not however be used to troll with IRL memes, IRL pictures, or to constantly trash talk other groups. If you find yourself using Twitter to constantly bash people, call out other groups/gangs & flood it with IRL memes, or pictures then you should stop.

In Closing:

Thank you for reading through this post and we hope that you will take what it says to heart. 2.0 is right around the corner and we want to make sure the server goes into it on a high note, not a low one. Keep an eye out for an upcoming general Community Meeting prior to 2.0 and a Criminal Workshop session a couple weeks after release. Remember, if you have concerns - please raise them, and we can do our best to address them.
