Early Life
Claire Elizabeth Halsey was born February 7, 1997 in Zadar, Croatia, the only child of Afghan born, English-Swedish International Red Cross linguist Laila Skarsgard, and at the time, known smuggler Mladen Naletilic Tuta. Her father was arrested just days after her birth upon returning to Croatia, and was charged with murder and ultimately tried at the Hague for war crimes. Her mother had never known of Mladen's past and quickly broke off the relationship and after threats were made against her and Claire, moved to the United States. Ultimately settling on Orcas Island with a family friend, Katerina Halsey who she simply calls "Mama Halsey", living on their property. In 2005, at the age of 8, Claire competed in her first local karting series, winning her rookie season and setting numerous course records. In 2006, her mother Laila became a helicopter pilot for a local helicopter company, and began to fly with Claire to and from work on neighboring San Juan Island. In 2008, Laila and Claire moved to a house on San Juan Island where Claire attended Middle and High School.
In 2011, Laila was killed in an attack on a convoy of protesters outside of Tripoli, Libya while working abroad as a translator. The ensuing custody battle between her aunt, Amina Skarsgard, and Mama Halsey was a difficult one, with Amina ultimately winning custody of Claire despite her complaints. She moved to Bellevue, Washington, a suburb of Seattle and began partying and go-go dancing at underground raves. She describes herself as a "dirty raver" at heart, and frequently returns to Seattle for events thrown by friends from that time.
In 2014, finally fed up with the living conditions and lack of connections in Seattle, she ran away from home while her aunt was in Afghanistan for work, stealing her step-sisters car, some clothes, and around $10,000 in cash. Claire headed for California, and began looking for modeling work in the city.
Career
While her initial attempts at discovery were unsuccessful, Claire attended a race at Laguna Seca, in Monterey, California on her return leg home to Seattle. It was there that she was discovered by a photographer who recommended her to The Society Management who signed her initial contract. Claire changed her legal name to Claire Luna Halsey and moved to Paris for a year with four other models. She moved to Bali, Indonesia in 2015, choosing to focus on the Asia market, saying that living with other teenaged models was an experience she wouldn't repeat. It is known that Claire lived part time in Bali, and part time in Salerno, Italy. She began working events like Milan Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, and Tokyo Fashion Week, while doubling as a helicopter pilot, corporate jet pilot, and SCUBA Instructor for the elite in both Bali and the Amalfi Coast.
In 2019, after 5 years in the industry, Claire left the modeling world, citing a need for personal discovery. She quickly ran into financial troubles, and ended up moving to Los Santos, San Andreas with her stepsister, Kara. Refusing her stepsisters help, she moved in with a fan, then a trailer in Sandy Shores, and ultimately a house in San Chianski. It's during this time that Claire started
Storm International an underwater salvaging company, headquartered out of the Arcadius Business Center, in Los Santos. Combining her SCUBA, piloting, and boating experience into one company, Storm International grew to a multimillion dollar company in it's first year of operation.
Claire sold
Storm International to a group of investors for an undisclosed amount within 6 months of it's formation, and began traveling with her then girlfriend, traveling to amusement, and theme parks around the world until 2021. Claire returned to Bali in March, Seattle in October, and then to Los Santos again in December of that year.
Once in Los Santos, Claire began to work for the
San Andreas Flight Authority (SAFA) as a Check Pilot. She began working with
Sally's Surf Shop owner and photographer
Sally Nailburry her first week back. She signed with Bohan Talent and Management, and began collaborations with CLOUT, in January 2022. By March 2022, Claire was Check Pilot Manager at SAFA, and a Talent Manager for Bohan T&M with her years of previous experience. She departed Bohan T&M to focus more on her aviation career, and by November 2022 had become Assistant Chief Pilot for SAFA and began working on a CLOUT Magazine reboot with
Becks Lawson.
In December 2022, Claire signed with The Society Management's parent company Elite Models World, a Paris based agency and featuring with brands like DEMOBAZA,
Original Clothing, and Remington's. In April 2023, CLOUT Magazine hosted the Sapphire Soiree, an event for the entertainment and fashion industries. Claire was featured on the cover of CLOUT Magazine's July 2023 Sapphire Soiree special. She started Manic Merch Mfg., a merch company for entertainers and Sparrow-21 (S21) Films in June.
In September 2022, Claire appeared in the public eye without tattoos, citing personal growth, and broader international appeal as the reasons behind her decision.
