Overview:
The State Attorney is San Andreas's lawyer and chief
Law Enforcement official, and leads the Department of Justice. The Department's responsibility includes representing the
Government in civil and criminal matters before trial courts, appellate courts, and the Supreme Court of San Andreas; serving as legal counsel to
Government officials and agencies, boards, and commissions; and assisting
Law Enforcement officers in the enforcement of laws and the administration of justice. The mission of the Department is to uphold the rule of law, to keep our state safe, and to protect citizens' constitutional rights.
Our Values:
Honesty and Integrity. We are committed to honesty, transparency, and accountability in everything we do. Integrity is the foundation of our work, and we know that it is essential for earning and maintaining the public's trust. We strive to act with moral courage, making decisions based on what is right, not what is easy.
Fairness. We believe in treating everyone with equality and respect. Our broad interpretation of fairness means that we must listen diverse perspectives, understand the unique challenges of disempowered people, and promote equal access to the justice system. Our dedication to fairness ensures that justice is not only administered impartially, but also perceived as such by the public.
Accountability. This is more than just a principle; it is a promise to the people we are privileged to serve. We take full responsibility for our actions, decisions, and their outcomes. Our commitment to accountability is rooted in the founding of our country — we are a publicly funded agency, and we answer to the citizens.
Collaboration and Innovation. We know that teamwork and creativity are essential for addressing the challenges facing our society. Toward this end, we will foster strong partnerships with our local, state, and federal
Law Enforcement agencies, other Executive Branch agencies, and private sector companies to achieve better outcomes for public safety. We are committed to embracing new ideas and technologies to stay ahead of threats to our system of justice.
Organization:
Under the leadership of the State Attorney, the Department of Justice is a key pillar of our state's commitment to public service. Composed of nearly 20 employees, each member contributes expertise and dedication to the law. The Department provides legal counsel to 13 agencies, boards, and commissions, and the governor's office. This collaboration with the state
Government promotes our ability to efficiently address legal matters and ensure that the government performs its operations within the confines of the law.
