Salem’s life is a lot more unique in comparison to other families, being born into a family of goths, she was raised with stories about vampires and spiritualist religion.
Salem’s mother (Morticia) and father (Dorian) fantasised about witches particularly and therefore named their children Salem and Sabrina.
Salem’s life seemed normal, not many children her age understood the aesthetic of her parents or daily clothing. Come to Halloween or World Book Day, most of the children wished to either borrow or grasp her from Salem and her sister.
It wasn’t until a month after Salem’s birthday when Salem reached 5 years of age, the tragic murder of Sophie Lancaster happened. An awful hate crime against someone simply because they were goth. Terrified of these actions, Salem’s parents did everything they could to move their family away from danger. And with that, they ended up moving to Salem, Massachusetts, USA.
Whilst Salem and her family continued to grow up in their gothic culture, life was different. Children were not only confused by the culture but the accents. This eventually led to bullying when Salem got a bit older, ending up with Salem dissociating herself from people of her age and eventually, people entirely apart from her family.
With realisation, Dorian (her father) noticed this but also noticed Salem exceeding in art classes where she had the freedom to express herself in school and at home. With his job as a tattoo artist, he introduced her to the tattoo gun and let her form her own practice. Soon after, Salem at 16 would be tattooed by her dad and eventually herself.
After 2 years of practice, Salem was confident enough as a black and white realistic tattooer. As soon as she turned 18, she ventured to Los Santos without a proper word as Salem, Massachusetts became all too much for her.
In the first few days, spending them homeless, she met a few generous souls. They provided her mode of transport, shelter and even money.
Whilst she continued to make the path of her career dream, Salem ran as a GoPostal deliverer. Unexpected to which she needed to deliver a parcel to MRPD. When she got the paperwork signed, the cop asked Salem, “Is there a bomb in here?” Catching Salem off guard and surprised with an unknowing how to respond, Salems replies, “I don’t know, maybe?” About an hour later, bomb squad, MRPD cordoned off and a few statements later… it turned out it was cleaning products for MRPD….
