After her mother died while in labor of Cassie, her father raised the little girl on her own. He struggled, a single parent for years, until it just got the best of him. When Cassie was in 3rd grade, they lost their house due to foreclosure. Afraid of losing the one thing he has left in this world, he protected her the best he could. Cassie and her father survived on the streets for years, until she was 13 and her father got sick.

Following her fathers death, Cassie was put into the care of CPS, where she was fostered by a lovely family in California. She soon found a love for the cross country track team, although she struggled in school she always ended up being athletically gifted. Taking daily runs for miles from afternoon to sunset, continuing the routine until Senior year. During a senior prank gone wrong a fire broke out at the school, getting her expelled. With no other choice at the time, Cassie grabbed money from her foster parents and flew back home, where she now wonders.
