Pillbox Medical Center is the current primary hospital for the State of San Andreas, Originally the main hospital, the SAMS department has moved through Mount Zonah and Eclipse before Pillbox was reopened as the main medical facility.
On June 25th, 2022, the then Surgeon General
Maggie Martindale confirmed the closure of the Mount Zonah Medical Centre, transferring SAMS to the Eclipse Medical Tower in the Rockford Hills.
On December 28th, 2022, Eclipse Medical Tower was rocked by multiple explosions, displacing SAMS. During the incident, Eclipse was put on bypass, with staff stationed at Sandy Shores Medical to receive any casualties. ANGEL1, SAFR's life flight helicopter made several life-saving trips to transport the most critical cases to Sandy Shores Medical. The exact details and cause of the explosions are currently unknown and under investigation.
In the summer of 2023, Dr.
Justin Cooke was appointed as Surgeon General, with Seraphine Wren becoming the Deputy Surgeon General.
In September of 2023, a plane crashed into Sandy Medical Centre, calling for the building to be reconstructed.
Pillbox Medical Center has two main accessible floors and a roof with a helipad, with another floor being under construction.

Those using private transport wanting to visit the hospital will want to use the lower level and parking.
SAMS also runs and maintains the Sandy Shores Medical Centre, Paleto Bay Clinic, the Parsons Rehabilitation Centre and has a psych office in the Vespucci Beach area.
There have been a number of bills outlining patient privacy, the function of SAMS, and health and religious protections including H.R. 108, H.R. 109 and H.R. 191.
