Serena was born on February 13, 1998, to Avery and Lucas Mikaelson. At a young age, Serena had to learn to take care of herself and be independent due to her parents always working, she never really had friends due to them consistently moving so she grew used to being alone. She struggled at first making friends because she tried to fit in with everyone which only made her the laughing stock of her schools, as time went on she grew into being her own person. She didn't realize she was bisexual till she was around 13 when she was playing spin the bottle and 7 minutes in heaven.

Serena's first kiss was with Zuri who was 14 at the time while Serena was 13. She eventually came out as bisexual to her parents at the age of 15 and they were slightly shocked by it but this was due to them always working and never taking much time to get to know Serena. They ended up accepting her the way she was, Serena on her birthday Serena openly told everyone she was bisexual after making sure her parents knew first. When she was 16 she had her first girlfriend, Natasha Greene, which lasted for a year before Serena had to move again and the relationship ended due to the long distance.

During her years of growing up, she had a mixture of both male and female partners. When she graduated high school, she applied to college where she met the woman she thought was going to be the one, Kori Pelta. They dated for 3 years before Serena proposed to which she was very disappointed to find out Kori did not want to advance their relationship further. After some discussion and a few arguments, the two eventually split up where Serena vowed to never get down on one knee for anyone everyone again or to accept an engagement with anyone. After graduating from college with a degree in Criminal Justice, she decided she was going to move to another state. She went to the airport and bought the first plane ticket there was before departing for San Andreas.

Serena's arrival in San Andreas made her excited to start a new life. She went to the police station almost immediately and decided to fill out an application. After the intense and stressful periods between her applying and doing her interview, she was informed she was one of the few who made it passed into Academy. Serena upon hearing the news it had made her so happy, she went and got an apartment nearby the police station so she had a place to stay.

Serena went through her phases in the cadet program and eventually became an officer. During her time working as a Law Enforcement officer, she became friends with quite a few people who she cherishes and would do anything for. She continues to this day to keep in contact with those she calls family and friends, even if she is super busy. She feels bad whenever she gets hurt and worries those around her but unfortunately she has come to accept that it is part of the job that she works.

On June 10, 2022, Serena was responding to a Vangelico Robbery with the Eastside Vagos inside. After some negotiations for the hostage, they left with the items and she along with her colleagues start to pursue them. It went on for quite some time until the vehicle broke down, there was only one person left in the vehicle Serena and two other officers pursued the suspect on foot. While on foot, he took out a knife and stabbed one officer before he was opened fire upon. He managed to stab Serena in the stomach, stabbed in the neck, and slit her in the throat before being shot down. She along with the other officer were rushed to the hospital, Serena suffered from a vein in her neck having been completely broken and her windpipe was barely holding on. The doctors did what they could to stabilize her but due to her injuries, she was rushed into ICU to recover, they put her in Room 3 where a few of her friends came to visit, some stayed there in the room with her along with her boyfriend Ezra Casey.

On June 11, 2022, Serena fell victim to the injuries that she sustained just the day before and passed away.
